Hybrid Work
A contemporary hybrid workplace for NSW Government, demonstrates how thoughtful refurbishment can transform an existing environment while supporting new ways of working, collaboration and connection.
Reframing the Existing Property and Development NSW appointed Studio P3 as the principal architect in establishing the concept design applicable to Levels 34 & 35 within 52 Martin Place, Sydney, supporting the work practices and functions of multiple Government Agencies and including a new NSW Government CBD work hub.
The design of new contemporary hybrid workplace environments through the repositioning and refurbishment of existing environments is now influencing workplace design across further multiple floors within this site.
Studio P3 were responsible for the engagement and coordination of the wider consultancy team along with the the development of the workplace strategy and concept and design development of the workplace for NSW Government agencies who were seeking environments which provide market differentiation, conducive to fostering high performing cultures of client experience and innovation and enticing of return to the office.
Strategic ReuseThe project developed an intelligent conceptual framework, holistically considering the aspirations and objectives of Government, cultural drivers, and operational imperatives to facilitate a solution that optimised employee experience and business outcomes.
A key outcome was demonstrating the potential of reuse and repurposing as both a design and lifecycle strategy. Existing parquetry flooring, partitions, glazing, doors, window coverings and lockers were retained and upgraded where appropriate, while workstations were reused from three previous sites. Rather than treating the existing environment as a constraint, the project used what was already there as the foundation for a contemporary workplace—reducing waste, extending the life of existing assets and delivering greater value through considered adaptation.
